FMX 298 Professional Seminar
This is a required course for all FMX majors that focuses on career preparation and professional development for visual creators. It presents a wide variety of professional skills such as goal setting; professional ethics; portfolio basics and imaging strategies; writing cover letters, artist’s statements and gallery proposals; exhibiting in galleries, museums and alternative spaces; self-initiated projects and exhibitions; networking and public relations; applying for grants and residencies; applying for internships, jobs and graduate schools; and locating helpful resources.
The “foundations” courses in FMX: 207, 210, 213, 217, 238, 241 and at least one other 200-level FMX course. Students must earn a C or better in this course and all requisite courses to enroll in FMX 499.
